GP Enhanced Access (GPEA)

Waltham Forest Federated GP Network (FedNet) is commissioned by Waltham Forest CCG to provide extended hours GP cover to patients who live within the London Borough of Waltham Forest. The service provided is offered 7 days a week with both weekday evening and weekend appointments offered to patients. These services are positioned in each of the three localities within the borough for easy access to patients.

Whipps Cross Hospital, Urgent Care Centre (WXH UCC)

The UCC and Primary Care OOH service is operational 7 days a week and 24 hours a day and initially will be staffed by GPs (from the subcontracted GP provider) working sessions to offer 24/7 coverage and in collaboration with nursing staff, including advanced nurse practitioners with an administrative and managerial team (all provided by the lead provider SEPT) . During the term of the contract the model of care is likely to develop and transition to a more nurse led model during core hours.

Anticoagulation

The role of anticoagulation in primary and secondary prevention of ischemic stroke and other medical conditions is well established. Anticoagulant monitoring for vitamin K antagonists(warfarin) is necessary as this group of drugs need adjusting to maintain optimal effect and reduce the risk of adverse events and complications. Traditionally the monitoring of this group of anticoagulant patients has been provided within the hospital setting. However there has been a move to set up and monitor these patients within the primary care setting.
